Last December, The Great Lie got together to record a follow-up to their last ep, Defying Extinction, planning to release these tracks as post-pandemic shows started back up. That time has come, and "Burners" is set to be released.
The Great Lie (with former members of Long Island's Mind Over Matter, Neglect, and Deathcycle, as well as Madball and Sheer Terror) continue to combine their hardcore/thrash/noise roots on the new ep. When In Effect Hardcore last reviewed their last release Defying Extinction, they wrote, "It's hard to say that The Great Lie sound hardcore, punk rock, or metal, and I bet from a band's standpoint, they love that fact." The Great Lie continue to build on that ethos with "Burners."

This single will represents his fight against his depression and axiety problems.
It all started with Andreas and Martin wanting to do something different
than the bands they were currently in. Experimenting with more noise/less
fuss/more fuzz/distortion and just playing around and learning from each
other. At
first it was just the two of them getting together here and there,
whenever they found the time. It was working surprisingly well being just
bass and guitar. But it came to the point where they wouldn’t advance
forward without a drummer. Stefan
joined in for a chaotic and long session where they mostly finalized the
majority of the songs and everything felt really good. They just needed
someone on vocals. But Stefan had a lot to do with his other bands, and
in the end for the recording of their contribution to Dis Is Malmö they received temporary help from Christoffer on drums and asked their friend
Aanna to scream. So,
with the song SCUM! finished and them being pleased with the sound. They asked if Aanna wanted to continue screaming with them and she did! On top
of that they just needed to find a permanent drummer. Jonathan
joined in and they finalized the songs for a live set and after the Dis
is Malmö release show they recorded the album. And that’s pretty much
where they are at right now.

1. Could you tell a bit more about black planet
record label?
Black Planet Records
is a Serbian independent DIY record label whose aim is to promote diverse music
and forward-thinking artists from Serbia, the Balkan region and especially
their hometown Niš. The label was formed by Figurative Theatre and Crocodile
Tears. The label has been releasing music from all kinds of genres -
alternative, electronic, IDM, post rock, glitch, trip / hip - hop, ambient,
noise, industrial etc. Copyleft is the our way.
2. When did you start with the black planet record
label and are the bands satisfied with your services?
BPR was founded in
2012. because there was a great number of bands and artists around us and a
need to group the alternative scene into one force. We all act together,
helping each other so I think the satisfaction is mutual.
3. What bands can expect from you?
We don't expect
anything and the bands don't expect anything from us (in material terms),
because we are here for the music. You can expect integrity, sincerity and
respect.
4.What are the criteria for publishing material for BPR? Is
it just the quality in question or ?
Everyone can contact us at b.planet.records@gmail.com and
send the music to listen. If the music is exciting - let's talk, why not. We
are above all to connect the interesting and lonely minds of this climate.
Quality is a relative category, we are interested in those poorly explored
spaces of the soul. The only criterion is that he is a performer from the
region.
5. Could you give some advice to bands about the underground
scene?
Be true to what you
do,respect the people around you and never give up.
6.Could you say something at the end for the blog All for
one and one for all?
"All for one
and one for all" is a perfect name to describe the HC DIY mental attitude
we try to preserve. We support what you do. All the best.
